I am woken up by the sun rising through the mosquito net at around 5 in the morning. I quickly set up my camera's tripod on the crest of the dune and alter shots with the pleasure of seeing the sun give the sky a growing glow. I then go back to sleep despite the rising heat. Later, I watch more of the local species: fragile flowers which we saw opening the previous night (already wrinkling with the heat), crabs carefully cleaning their burrows from sand, and also local sandflies. They are a real pest for me since our arrival on the site, as they chase and sting me despite repellent which I am covered with. The guys were stunned at seeing my futile fight with these flying terrors the previous evening: 28-0, but they took me for a fool as I swayed left and right with my towel. At night, the cold calms them, but they're back at it in the morning: +14 before breakfast as they keep coming from neighboring swamps but are not warm yet. It is better than mosquitoes though, as their sting is not too painful and does not itch. The others wake up slowly at 8, and go one by one to freshen up by the sea. We see small planes land and take off on the beach and enjoy this peaceful morning.
