One in Kangaroo Island, I am welcomed by Jon, an Englishman who came for a week-end with his wife 26 years ago! I check into the hostel and he takes me in chilly water to dive and see a beautiful rare fish: the leafy seadragon, a relative of the seahorse which looks like floating algae. We're quite lucky as we manage to see one despite the poor visibility due to the currents. As we go around the entrance of the bay, the current picks up and we see many medium-sized fish, both from tropical and temperate waters. We go through kelp forests and stay more than an hour in this original environment, time enough to be very cold!

Later in the evening, I have the pleasure of watching the awakening of the fairy pinguins (also called "little" or "blue") who, as their name indicates, are the smallest in the world. It's amusing to see them slowly wake up and make their way to the sea, to come back hours later tired and wobbling back up to their burrows.
